Mars Tower Defense Game - Defense Turrets

These Turrets were modelled and textured for a game project in Unreal Engine 4 that combines Tower Defense and First Person Shooter.

Influenced by titles like DOOM, the game takes place in 2120, when humanity set foot and settled on Mars. However they will soon uncover a terrible secret. As one of the last surviving soldiers after a series of earthquakes and volcanic activity on the Red Planet, Lieutenant Commander Azrael of the Mars Defense Force has to secure the ravine and entrance to an ancient lava tunnel where a portal to another dimension opened. They are the last stand between the Martian settlement and the demonic force that emerges from that cave. And as such, it is their duty to defend the pass against hordes of demons until their death.

To accomplish this, the player can use either their own weapons or these four automatic turrets which each have different up- and downsides. They can be upgraded with currency, which is why there are three different visual upgrades for each weapon that are gradually replaced.
I wanted to create realistic looking and futuristic weapons, but not from a time too far in the future. The turrets are also supposed to be constructed on Mars with in situ resources. A lot of thought went into the design and functionality of the weapons so they could potentially work in real life.
Concerning color, the turrets are predominantly white, as the colors white and blue are supposed to represent humanity, whereas orange, red and violet hues stand for the alien and hostile surroundings of the Red planet and its demonic inhabitants. Furthermore the design features aluminum and accents of copper.
