Floating Island in the Sky

This project was a school assignment in collaboration with Khaled Alaa Eddin.

Our task was to sculpt and texture a 3D diorama. We should involve sculpting in Zbrush, aswell as a retopology, and a PBR texturing workflow in Substance Painter. Finally, we rendered all of our models as a single scene in Marmoset toolbag. Unfortunately the scene is too big to upload a Marmoset viewer.
For our diorama, my partner and I decided to create a floating island in the sky with a waterfall and a little cottage. Of course the person who decided to build their house on top of it has to leave and return to his island eventually, so we also created a hot air balloon and a footbridge.
My part of the assignment was the island itself, the surrounding debris and the river, while Khaled Alaa Eddin created the house, the balloon and the footbridge.

The river was sculpted with Zbrush as this project was supposed to be a still life. I've added some splashes with planes so it looks more real (and to cover up some ugly areas of course)
